Not sure Why you Posted the Schematic as I Obviously already have it!
VR5 Sets the "Threshold" Level.
For Best Sensitivity, It should be set so you have a Low Buzz in the Piezo.
Possibly a tone of about 200 to 300Hz.
For Detecting at Maximum Distances, Like a US Quarter at 10 Inches, you need to "Listen for Small Changes in the Tone".
And Some Piezo's are Better than Others.
It will Only SCREEM HIGH Tones, When you are getting CLOSER to the Metal.
I have a Newer Version of this Detector, that has a Visual Go or No Go Indicator.
But I have Not Released the Schematic for it yet.
