Yue Hailin, don't waste time to ask in the forums. Simply build both PI and test them. However, I think a VLF metal detector will be more sensitive for coins and rings buried in Chinese soils.

PI detectors have better "raw" detection compared to the VLF detectors for objects larger than 25mm. yhl wants detector with discrimination so that the VLF is the best solution for him. But he will be disappointed when you see the difference in the detection of airborne and the difference in soil. What if he fails to overcome the many problems about making VLF detectors (one is making the coil ...). So it will yhl unhappy lot which makes the start the series of questions in the style of black - white PCB, a small depth of detection (if there is any) ...

SURF PI can discriminate against iron.
Detection of copper coin 23 mm to 25 cm can be. In the air. Gary is not sensitive to the detection of small things. Gary's deep.

The Surf PI cannot discriminate against iron.

            I second that!

I've dug enough of it up to melt down and build my own Eiffle tower But the surfpi is a good little machine and I love it
