I can make them if needed (probes), friend of a friend has one channel scope ... don't need it so much to buy for my self
don't need scope - except for MDs
I would rather buy new MD... or used one ... or here on forum homemade one
Today I resoved this problem with surf pi pro and soldered all parts on it. It was nothing broken but device worked on table.
I connected one coil which was not funcional ... had some detection ... few cm and removed from table for later inspection
regular coil in use ... when I returned it to table it was in error again ... missing -5V
mechanical error - cold coldering or something ...
last two things i connected was diode 1N5819 and resistor 10k R12
I was thinking it was faulty diode ... but it worked after ...
?Why everytime I swinging sticks to the ground there's always beep sound long arbeg boards surf 12 but if I'm swinging it farther from the ground there is no beep sound
hello
could you pls tell me what the coil inductance value is for a surfmaster pi metal detector...im new to this site and just trying to find my way around.
Thank you for your answer, but the coil I have already protected the small hose and lapisin with black bandages every swinging to the right of me there is always a false signal of how its so no false signals before him I use of coils wired tv antenna however was not sensitive at all, after I replace the copper wires sensitive back as they are only 20 cm by 2 cm diameter ring of gold
I had same problems ... it was mechanical movement of coil - little wires are moving when I touch ground or move right to left
it is solved now with hot glue

I have coil that is 220uH and have also 350uH coil.
It it best for you to have about 300 to 350uH.
Anyone tried surf pi pro without schotkky diode ?
I have problem with it - it is not diode it self (used new too) but if I connect it to ICL7660 it lowers -5V to +0,5V
something in that circuit ... what is this diode for ?

The diode should only be used if you are synchronizing the 7660, in conjunction with the 10k resistor R23. The diode will clamp the osc pin voltage to ~+5.3V maximum. Without the diode the osc pin would see +12V sync pulses and would not like that with the power supply input being only +5V.
Using the diode quashes the 7660 internal oscillator, and then not providing a sync input results in no usable output.
I have problem with keeping -5V output... when I connect that diode it drops to +0.5V
or if diode is on ... when I place all ICs in their sockets ...
detector is working without diode but not detecting anything ... and detecting randomly
(giving false signals - but not clear signal of detection)
with or without coil
my 7660 IC is working on other surf pi pro and TLC555 and IC 358
Do you have R23 installed between TLC555 pin-3 and ICL7660 pin-7? If so, was R23 installed but no 1N5819, and power then applied?
The protection diode cannot do its job if it is not installed in the circuit... and it probably will not work retroactively. In other words, installing the diode would likely not 'repair' a 7660 that has been damaged from an over-voltage condition on pin-7.
If you ran the detector with R23 but not D6, then there is a possibility that the 7660 has been permanently damaged.
Yes I have powered surf pi pro with and without diode 1N5819. With resistor R23 10k.
I will try 7660 on another surf pi pro so we will see if it is damaged.
