Having said that V1.2 does sound pretty cool.... No! Stay strong! Maintain discipline! Finish V1!
PS: I was very jealous of you northern hemisphere boys as I scraped the ice of my windscreen yesterday morning.

    Hi Midas
    Thanks!
First i just making concept for SD2000 V1.2,
Second SD2000 V1.0 project is finished completely, i am just waiting for PCB-s.
So i am not break in any trap :P
I try to maintain order, but it is not bad while waiting PCB-s to developing v1.2
Can you please send me one bucket of ice? :P
    Cheers

            • Hi all.

At what point is the production of pcb?
Very interesting, but if your work does not end, does not bring anything.
I've seen SD complete and, I think working, order is essential to speak of alignment.

What is small white box connected to headphones etc..?
              Schematics?
How does it work, are you satisfied?
You have PCB designs? or you can sell ready to assemble components?

              Happy New Year to all

              • Hello, Happy New Year everyone!

As a diy project I'm very happy with its performance so far. When in built up areas, EMI will cause grief resulting in a loss of sensitivity and stability. Never had the chance to compare it to a stock standard SD2000. The white box connects the headphones and battery to the control box, it also contains a lm350 voltage regulator and is set at 6.2 volts via a 9.6volt/9000mah ni-mh battery.

As I am a newbie to electronics, this project was a personal challange and pleased with the finished result. I was also unemployed for a few months which allowed me to build the circuit while searching for work - its f&%$'n depressing when your bored and got no work. Thanks to Zed, Woody and Mechanic who have posted valuable information on this website of this circuit. Furthermore, I have no intension to sell pcb's or a kit package or releasing pcb artwork. I highly recommend that you buy a secondhand/new minelab pi as you will save yourself the trouble, time and cost in cloning a SD2000.

Thanks for info. I wanted to ask one more info if possible. You can describe me positioning controls on the main box? About to buy this MD, SD2000 is unavailable and when someone sells, ebay or others, there are too many dogs around a single bone. However, I'm not afraid to put my hand to the welder to build something worth building. My interest is, than personal use, including cognitive character. I've been following the evolution of the PI for a long time.

P.S I hope that you are getting new job.

                    • Hi All, what ever happened to this project? I too would like to make my own 2000 tribute but the thread seems to be incomplete or have died out. Any help from Detecto, FindersKeepers, GS appreciated.
                      Cheers,
                      Owen

                        • Thanks GS, much appreciated. I like Finderskeepers DIY SD2000 and ultimately that is exactly what I am trying end up with - DIY control box but with a normal coil. I have gathered as much of the schematics and PCB images as I can but no PCB files (Gerber etc.). This is the stumbling block for me. Many years ago I worked in electronics and trained with Protel but that was a long time ago so not keen on re-drawing the PCB if it has already been done. I also have never created one at home before so that is a new frontier. I do have access to Altium Designer and may try it in there and see how much I remember in laying out circuit boards.
Next step is the BOM which I believe is easily achieved with the schematics and working through the posts in the 2xSD2000 threads on people's recommendations for the best component replacements. Assembly should be okay as my background is through-hole so no SMD for me but my brother-in-law was also a tech from long ago and good in this area. I'll need a lot of help for tuning and calibration. As Detecto said in the start of this thread I don't want to start the project if I can't finish it, but having an essetnially brand new DIY SD2000 for ~$5-600 is very appealing vs. buying a nearly 20 year old beaten up example for $1000-$1300. Still deciding..............
