The result of all this is a functional 450 mm long array that can be operated at 262 and 455 kHz with a Humminbird sideimaging fishfinder. Below is an image of the array and an example with a sector scanned at range set to 60 m.

Yes, the transducer is close the surface. I was standing on the shore and depth is about 9 m in the middle of the image. (Boating is still impossible here because of ice). I use a shaft for sweeping the transducer over a sector. The image must be processed back home since the recorded image is distorted. The unit assumes the transducer is moved along a straight path, when it actually is rotated.

I think as you got away with the silver paint repair - I would go for soldering as before. Dont want to redesign it - I would just use it . Good luck S
