Searching on the web I cam across something that you might be interested in.
The page (see below) states "The towfish has a "Flip over" feature that consist of a shear pin mechanism". I would imagine that this is used in case of impact so that the damage to the fish is limited.
If anyone has an idea on how this is hooked up, lets discuss it.
