Backplates

Can anyone give me the speed of sound through Copper and Lead ?


I was thinking of making the array out of copper because that would be easier for me to work with.


Does anyone know if a lead backing would dampen ultrasonic sound more than a lighter material ?

By some practical test I noticed that lead was


a "semi good" medium for ultrasound. I didn't


measure sound of speed.


I have note measured on copper.


I have been told that tungsten powder mixed


in epoxy is a good backing.
