I came across something interesting at a marine surplus the other day.
They were called "crystal microphones" theye are cased in a stainless steel cylinder approx 5 cm dia and 10 length. They were marked: Plessey M.S. 85 M.S.R.U.
Could it be that they are in fact transducers or are they just passive microphones?
