  • Help with extra transducer

    Hi,
I have a Furuno 667 color sounder with
    a 200kHz 10deg beam.If I were to connect another
transducer in parallel to broaden the beam width, would this present any loading problems
to the unit?I need to extend my bottom coverage and this may be one way of achieving this.
    Any comments?
    Cheers
    Dan

    Re: Help with extra transducer

    Hi,
I would think the load would not be the problem.
The resistance of these transducers is very
    high.
The Piezo element is voltage driven rather than current.

If you get a better image is something else.
Would be quite interesting to see.

Wonder what would happen if you would make an array so the allover length would be about 30-40cm.
The beam should get quite narrow.
Something like about 0.9 degrees "thin" and 60-70 degrees "wide"

    Best regards, Jan

      Re: Help with extra transducer

      Jan,
      Thanks for replying.
Basically, I need to sound over a greater
area and this may be one way of doing it.
I suppose the more transducers connected, the
less power in each, but as I only need to sound
in around 30 to 40 meters, then it may not be a problem.
      Cheers
      Dan

        I have a hummingbird 200dx fishfinder.
How will adding 1 or more tranducers help?
how will that change the screen view?
