I'm a little confused, is there typically an adjust on the recorder for grazing angle or is this strictly a function of fish height? Both?

As far as I know the grazing angle is the geometric angle between the transducer and the seafloor. One important thing I have noticed with many of the images posted on this website is that there is a lot of "shadow" in parts of the image - presumably due to too oblique a grazing angle. In my system (about to be built) I will have a TVG arrangement that the user can adjust (just a sliding trackbar) to "tune" the TVG slope to ideal and compensate for this angle problem.
