The Fishin Buddy with side scan would do pretty good job for the special fishing situation I need SS for but 9 degree Horiz as well as vert scan seems narrow on horiz side. SO.. am I understanding that any fish finder can be used as a SS when the tranduser is moved to a suitable position? And if not can the homebuiltd described here be used with a LED readout? Thank you for answering this neophites question!

And.. If one added 9 degree transducers to each side of the one on the Fishing Buddy and wired them all together as explained in this group, would the cone be broadened and display on the LED? I can see that the display would likely remain the same with added info compressed in the same area. But, assuming it worked, how would factors like range and power consumption be changed?
