  • Underwater Log Detection

In the business of recovering old, sunken logs from a brackish river. They're usually buried under 3 to 10 feet of muddy silt i chn 2 - 20 ft of water.

I too was intrigued by the Humminbird 987c, (http://humminbird.com/products.asp?ID=512) which looks to be an economical SSS which would work for exposed logs.

Anyone with experience in using the downward looking sonar w/ the gain turned up to penetrate the soft mud?

Any suggestions for an economical muck penetrating, log finding solution? (other than our current, high tech 20' long stainless pipe/probe!)

    thanks, don
