Welcome to the club. Some of us already work on "stealth" metal detecting techniques
I have created now my brand new own forum to discuss the "dark side" of treasure hunting.
http://darktreasurehunter.freeforums.org
It's no longer acceptable how some countries try to destroy the freedom of their people and want to lock them out from rights that thousands of years have been existed, like searching and collecting stuff that otherwise nobody else would get at all! This is criminalization big time and we will fight back!
The laws and the missing tax laws in Greece throw a very bad light on this country anyway. Greek antiques soon will belong to north european countries and treasure hunters !
But however, it's more exciting this way and not every old ruin, field or wood has security around the clock! And by those laws the cowards and weakeggs gets scared away and leave much more treasures to us!
regards, dark treasure

First, we have many tax laws, we are not missing any. We can give tax law to many countries and make the lives of their citizens miserable, while our lives are still miserable.
Second, you are basically encourage us to commit felonies. Of course i will not break the local law, i do not have a death wish, or worse, but someone might break it and then accuse you.
To fight back, there are legal means that we can use. If nothing happens, then our powers as citizens are limited to that. Sometime you will not be heard, or if heard, we will be ignored? What we can do? Take the mountains and become Guerrillas?
Third, this discussion is of topic.

The TGSL has only one tone
I would start this if you have acces to a scope.
No Scope - I would take my chances with the mines and a Surf Pi.
As for the postage its about 2000 Euros

Postage for 1 kit within EU will be less than 5 euro (airmail)

Also, does someone know what the shipping costs are inside E.U?

RelicHunter88, yiasou and welcome to the forum. You will probably need a discrimination detector if you have many steel objects in the ground. Pi will not suit you unless soil is free of many metallic objects.
Off topic, here where i live there are many ancient Greek artifacts in museums that the Greek corrupt government sold off many years ago. Its a shame and a big loss to the Greek people in Greece.
Actually, they are asking for these items to be returned back now for free, but that will not happen. It just goes to show why the Hellenic empire has collapsed to the state it is today.

@ RelicHunter88
What is "Rockhounding"?
My tip to you:
Go to Charmanly or whats the name and get the
http://www.piratdetectors.com
Pirate Black Devil
or got to Istanbul and get there a detector or
check www.blisstool.com - this is in Bulgaria
but also near the greek border
And don't waste your precious time by selfbuilt stuff.
Autumn and winter is coming faster than you think.
offtopic:
Usually the mighty people are just interested in valuable
treasures and not that much in culture or history.
If they can make money by touristical attractions yes,
or if they can sell faked clayfigures and stuff.
The most richest families throughout the world like
Rotschilds (France, bankers) always had huge collections
of art and rare artefacts and seldom collectors items.
A german discovered Troja at Turkey (or what he thought it
is this ancient town, known because of the trojan horse)
and archeolgical teams from middle europe found stuff at
Yemen or near there (city of the ancient Queen of Sheba).
I am interested in the prison situation in Greece now
at these financial hard times:
Is it now even much worse than it was before if they
get somebody caught while metal-detecting?
Do they have enough bread and water in the prisons?
Is there TV in the cells and warm water for washing?
If this metal-detecting is really that extremly criminal in Greece
either buy yourself a good weapon, too, or don't even think about
building or buying such "evil toy", that's my advice to you!!!!!
Though here in this forum are some guys from Greece like Geo
but he is "long range detecting" - and I doubt a not real provable
working electronic device can be used to accuse someone for
treasure hunting. Otherwise every clever person would use
such a >>treasure receiver<< and locates all hidden gold.
@ sido
For shure they should not give back antique, now this is Australias.
Countries are crazy to wanna get back treasures that have gone
for a long time. This is no cultural heritage protected by some
corporations that think they can protect everything they like!
Nature-Parks, Mountains, castles, ruins, animals, ship wrecks
and all kind of unbelievable or ridiculous stuff!
Declaring a whole country like Greece to be an archeological site
is an unbelievable insolence and presumptuousness!
And it is a kind of expropriation if people have to give away
things they have found on their own ground or property!
Be careful and watch your back, RelicHunter88, seems you
are trapped in a land with "killer regime" or in a "banana republic".

Funfinder, i will answer you in pm about our legal and prison systems.
Yes, Istanbul (or we call it in Greece, Constantinople) is near and i know someone who visits often.
For the moment, it would be for the best if the Countries that have Hellenic antiquities would keep them. I, and other who know, are afraid that the corrupt politicians and officials might sell them or keep them from themselves, or worse.
When we have a good government, we can buy all these antiquities, or kindly ask for them, but i would prefer a piece from the Hellenic civilization to remain in countries that where developed or affected by the Hellenic and Roman civilization. It is only fair because it is your history and civilization as well, and ancient Hellenes where not careful where they left or thrown their stuff, so we have "relics" all over Europe.

UPDATE
First a quick reply to Funfinder.
Rockhounding is how amateur geology is called in United States. With Wikipedia's words "is the recreational study and hobby of collecting rocks and mineral specimens from their natural environment."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_geology
Also, i asked, and the person that often goes to Istanbul, will probably go again in a few months, if you can suggest a shop and a good, efficient and not expensive detector, then i will ask him to bring me one.
But i will also build one, just for the challenge.I like electronics, and this project will be a nice opportunity to learn new stuff. I will also try to build a pinpointer probe.
Now some questions.
1) What coil type would be the best for soil with lots of trash? VLF?
2) Can IGSL be used with this type coil?
3) How King Cobra compares with IGSL, and how these two compare with detectors from the market?
4) Does the King Cobra PCB comes with components?
5) Any suggestions about Sound Cards are welcome.

I am searching for an USB soundcard to be able to use it with my laptop, but no luck - they are either too expensive, or too dumb.

Thanks. I will ask at the local store. When i get it, what aparatus i will need to make the card work as oscilloscope?
A reason i do not like laptops much, is that you cannot just open them and put a new card inside just as you do with tower PCs. I got a tower PC, do not worry.
My advise is to get a tower PC. You can get a good tower with Win7 64bit and 4Gb memory, relatively cheap. Search for offers. I got mine for less than 200€ (cheap for Greece).
