Try a simple and popular one. Truth is - everyone works.

It is liked to coil diameter as a variable.

Small coils give great accuracy and crisp target location.

I tried a 10" on a Surf Pi and I can just get 10" an well presented larger coins.

Thats like asking how long is a bit of string, whilst on holiday last week was pulling 303 1940 cartridges up from wet sand around rocks in Cornwall UK at 9-10" plus and the bottom end of a miliner 36mm at 15", the scale on the 303s was hitting well over halfway with very positive sound the miliner was very responsive with scale reading almost half using a bog standard 6" mono coil on my Minipulse 3 build, which the results were far better than I was getting on the test bed in pasture.
I was quite amazed and to be honest exspecting larger items before they were dug.
The conclusion Ive come to is either borrow or build a kit and try in your own grounds because theres so many varibals between one location to the next, its a science that clever people like yourselfs still havent grasped.
Far as air testing, personaly it rides over my shoulder, in one ear and out the other, it means nothing at all compared to the real world of metal detecting.

            Regards
