I have been tested in the air, but the metal detector never get to detect a coin at the distances shown on the videos. Maybe I did something wrong. Tests in the ground, I've never gotten to do, because the metal detector was not mine.
There is some kind of discrimination as the audio changes pitch occasionally, but a bit oddly. It seem as if a single oscillator is a VCO fed with discrimination voltage at discrete steps. No videos show how this device handles iron, and a choice of targets is such that every other detector would sound as on steroids.
Audio is proportional, an it is not a bit nervous.

If you want to attach an image, you need to click on the Go Advanced button, and then select Manage Attachments. You cannot simply cut-and-paste the image into your post, as all that gets displayed is a lot of gobbledy gook text.
