A basic series of devices built with garden variety parts continues. For a start, I have a little gem, built according to a long forgotten patent US4001602. It is a real 2 quadrant divider with very timid response at low denominator values. To exaggerate it's transfer function, I supplied both numerator and denominator inputs with ramp function, and only the denominator one is abs ramp (having V shape, all values positive). Referent voltage is 100mV, hence division with 100mV will give out the numerator voltage, same as being divided by 1.

I already made a 4 quadrant circuit based on this one, but it is not refined yet. The whole idea is to produce a close to arctan(X/Y) response which will enable reading degrees (hence the target material) on a dial instrument directly, VDI in short. Unlike digital VDI this one would use only a fraction of supply current.
