  • Why does my Sovereign not like 100% nickel coins?

Why do Sovereigns null on coins that are 100% nickel? Cupronickel coins seem fine?

Nickel is ferromagnetic, like iron, so I would expect an iron-like response. We have nickel-plated steel coins in the U.K, they behave just like plain iron/steel. Cupronickel is not ferromagnetic.

I wonder if the new CTX 3030 reacts the same way as the Sovereign to 100% nickel coins. Most Canadian coins from 1969 to 2000 are 100% nickel, I guess these detectors are somewhat useless in Canada other than finding pre 1968 silver coins.

It is factory pre-set to filter out small Ferro-like trash signals. I sense the same with ML Colt Musketeer.

What is the composition of Slovenia pre Euro coins? Can you find them with your Musketeer?

Does your Sovereign detects iron objects????
I have one and it don't detect iron (maybe it has iron mask) so i don't use it....

I do not know exact composition of those our pre Euro coins, but there was not pure nickel or something-plated Ferro coins. All coins were non-magnetic and easily detectable.
