I have built several md s only 2 types so far a bfo that is useful but i dig a lot of nails a pi from this site but i would like to get some boards from silverdogs site does anybody have experience building from just the boards not the kits. thanks in advance p.s im new to this site and self taught in electronics

I have made a Surf Pi, an IGSL, and an IDx
I like the simplicity of the IDx.
I made my version at 12kHz to see smaller coins in UK. I run the Tx from 12v. The det is stable and easy to use. I use it with a home made 10" DD and hip mount box. Runs beyond a week between charges, using up the good cells from a broken laptop battery.
It cant disc out large iron, so can loose time and strength messing about mining tractor parts - which here in UK are every 10 paces on arable.
Although reasonably good - it is blown out of the water by a reasonable commercial machine - my det buddy uses a Garret AT pro and he more than doubles finds.
