  • Depth vs moisture level

When out on club digs - experienced detector guys have all said independantly that if the ground is dry they dont get so much depth.

When soil is damp / more wet they get more depth and so more finds - they prefer this condition.

I don t have a clue why wetter soil gives more depth than dry soil - anyone know this ??

This can be true but not in all cases and not with all sort of detectors.

It has something to do with GEB, e.g. if wet soil is adequate to fixed GEB settings, then we can expect worse results on dry soil (improper to given fixed GEB)

so does that mean a detector properly geb on dry soil will be the same on wet if geb there too so one with Manuel ground balance or ground trac would be best in wet and dry ???

Regarding depth Manual GEB systems can achieve better results as Ground Trac systems, in other aspects Ground Trac usually outperform Manual GEB.
