C-Scope CS1220D/XD info. please

I am considering buying a used CS1220 (to use - not meddle with) and would like any advice ,what to look out for when buying , how to get the best out of , etc.
Also are there any real differences between 1220D and 1220XD (other than cosmetic)?
Generally , would you recommend one ?

Or should I go for a White's 6000 ?

I've seen one of these for a good price.
