    Re: Delta PI

Anyone using the 555 for timing or other
astable configurations would get a better
performance by swapping to the cmos version
    7555/6, seriously lower power consumption,
a lot lesser soft sync problems and noice
and ripple on the power lines due to
    switching effects.

      Re: Delta PI

Now what are we trying to do ? A lot of the people reading this forum are amateur builders / hobbyists . Whatever MICRON is doing here is getting interested people to contact them and then the salestalk starts . ( or am I completely wrong ? ) Come on friends , share , or shut-up . Give us the complete story or nothing . Just a remark from a true hobbyist ! Kees

        Re: Delta PI

I'm not a trader. This circuit was traced from original Micron PC board, but I did not do this work. I post it hoping to see your comments about it and eventually to fix potential errors or improvements.
These days I’ll finish tracing of another MIKRON detector (VLF type) and will post the circuit.
        Bye!

          555-type timers

In my opinion, the best 555-type timers are the Texas Inst. TLC555 and the second-source equivalent ST Microelectronics TS555. Digikey and Radio Shack carry the TI units; Mouser sells ST.

Several other companies manufacture similar units, which however are not identical and arguably not quite as good.

              Re: 555-type timers

Sorry, Esteban, I don't recognize that part number. I'm guessing that it's similar to the Intersil CMOS 555. --Dave J.

                  DAVE: ICM7555IPA

                  Hi,

Sorry, the correct designation is ICM 7555IPA.

See the Twin Loop Treasure Seeker Parts List.

In the Parts Lists is designed as ICM 7555IPA.

                  WHAT MEANS IPA?

                    Re: DAVE: ICM7555IPA

Can't positively identify it, but it is almost certainly either Intersil or a direct equivalent. Just fine for most applications, but for anything critical I'd use Texas Inst. TLC555 or the STM second source equivalent TS555.

Dave, thanks for your very clear explanation.

                        crosslinked to
I have lots of TS555CN timers. Is that a suitable replacement for NE555?
