IDX mod

Hi, we all know that full wave demods are the thing.

If you took a stock IDX and altered it for full wave 4053 style demod - what benefit would me apparent for the user?

I have experienced in the 4053 IDX-PRO. The metal detector becomes faster. We must make a number of changes in the RX preamplifier. I like the 4053. The ground balance also improved by using a 4053. Greetings, Eduardo.

I'd expect considerably less phantom targets as the full wave suppresses 2nd harmonic. In half wave demods the 2nd harmonic injects itself directly into the gain blocks, and being 2nd harmonic it's dynamic is twice the rate of the fundamental frequency.

I'm not that much into IDX, but instead I thought of the same thing for IGSL. The 4066 socket could be used as a perfect interface, and a wirewrap DIL socket could be used as a plug - everything is there. So what you need is an unity gain inverting amp, and a 4053. OK, two 4053s in case of IGSL.

If someone has a schematic that shows a 4053 version for the IDX I will do the mod. I have 2 IDXs sitting here that I could do a side by side comparison . I also have an unfinished IGSL that I could finish as a 4053 version.

Maybe silverdog dont stock again idx kit and / or pcb ...someone has mounted and working or only pcb idx for sale ?
