    Well, it seems to do what the handbook says it should. Very cold over here so I won't be out for a while. I do have a tech query. In the schematic I posted (in schematics) there is a 20M R across the tune switch. This was done because somebody posted it - otherwise the inverting input to the op-amp is floating. Now then, there is no such part in the Tesoro schematic. Mine won't work without it (now 30M, 40M no go). Electronically I can see why this is, but why does the Tesoro not need it ? Could it be a difference in op-amps (I am looking into this). Like everybody with a problem I am going to say I have checked everything etc etc (I did last year but still had a diode the wrong way round). I am going to check yet again, but any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks all.

    PS, you really should use US coins to test - some are not quite that same as ours (metal wise).

    Yes, the opamp... Tesoro uses a TLC2262 which has a lower input bias current.
