PM Scammers..maybe?

I cant find a category to post this problem.
I have received a few private massages from people asking
for me to buy a detector for them, because of some reason they cant buy for themselves?
The written english is not standard...
They want to send the money in an envelope,to me??
Then purchase, then post...
I did not reply.
Now I get a new private message asking to sell my own detector?
WTF?

How can I stop this?

Otherwise you can simply say to those sender that you are not willing to sell your handwork. I am sure that he will understand and stop asking you.

We need to understand that people are living in different parts of the world and with different problems, someone possibly cannot simply enter electronic store and buying electronic parts or detectors, cause the there are not such store around.

There is an "ignore list" in your private message settings. You can use that in the mean time.

But if there's proof that those people have dishonest intentions, they will probably get banned.

I have received similar PM's. He is also active in the Buy-Sell-Trade section. Just add him to your ignore list.

John what I would do is either PM Carl with the user name of the offending emails, or open one of these PM's and look for the forward button near the bottom of the box then add Recipient being Carl, obviously with a short message.

Yes they ask me too, if I am ready to build surf PI to him. After polite exchange a couple of PMs we say good-bay as friends.

His problem is that he has no credit card (so no PayPal) and cannot buy nothing outside his country. There is no detector story near to him or sell expensive Minelabs GPX only. So he ask for our help with some home-made (or from other source) cheap detector. He is willing to send money to covering all related costs in advance. I am not considering his posts as scam.

I can understand if people with certain geographical locations have restrictions to purchasing from outside there own country. But caution should be adhered to at such request's and always be vigilant to the original posters intentions.

John, i agree with your initial concern and being in OZ likewise to yourself, I received the same and ignored it. Wanted to help, but not enough information was forwarded to me to make a conservative decision to help a possible undermined fellow Detectorists.

Like you said, if they have the money to pay CASH$$$$, then what are the restrictions????.....Does smell fishy if not coming out straight forward, instead of leaving critical details out for consideration of their initial request.

If the said person comes clean in this open Forum and establishes a good report with this community...then i may consider taking their hard earned cash and help them in whatever way i can.

Need a Country of origin First.......then what are the restrictions??
Not worth the trouble its worth ATM.
