Happy Easter Fellow Members,
I am brand new to this forum and of coarse still wet behind the ears when it comes to detection. I would like to purchase a metal detector for deep searching. As you know there is no lack of opinions, information, and lots of dis-information out there. I would like my first detector to be something that can accurately locate deep objects from 3 feet to six plus feet. I will be searching for larger items and caches.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I see some of these detectors out there today have large 1mx1m frame coils that you can use. Would I get my needed depth from those? That would be nice and I could always switch over to a small DD or mono coil for closer to the surface objects.
What about a Garrett GTI 2500 or Whites TM 808. Will they go down 9 feet or so. I recently watched a video of a guy using a GTI with freshly hidden mailboxes at 1 meter, 1.5 meter, and 2 meter depths. The GTI only picked up the one at 1 meter. However they had not been in the ground long.
