Question from newbie PIM2 or DP2 or...

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would like to ask you for opinion.I am about to start building metal detector.I have some expirience in electronics but I never built metal detector. I found PIM2 and Delta pulse 2 interesting projects and I am gonig to ask if you are in my position which one would you choose? Or maybe some other? Please give me an advice.

Hello Boogi,

I am about 1 year in this forum and the 1st detector i built is the PIM2. From my point of view it is a good starting point, as the coil is easy to make for pulse induction detectors. Everything went straightforward and it works excellent. A programmer is needed for the Atmega microcontroller's demo hex file, which is limited to usage of 500 times , so I used my homemade Pickit2 for it. A preprogrammed full version can be ordered from Lugatek, who is the author of the PIM2. DP2 is also good, but I prefered to build the DP3.

Thanks for reply turboaleks. That is what I want to hear - experience in building,using... those two. I have some expirience in PIC microcontrolers but it should not be too difficult to built programmer for Atmega. DP3 is very good but for first design I prefer some easyer project. Thank you again.
