How about a "sticky" for the newbies like me: Summary of each MD project in "projects" forum?

As a novice, the sheer number of detectors in the "projects" forum has me overwhelmed. There are probably others I am missing in the "Tech" section..

Anyone care to summarize the level of difficulty in making each of the projects, and "done-ness" (proximity to actual realization) at the current time?
Can someone build project "x" now? PCBs, code, components, plans available?

mostly you need a scope to see whats going on.


Surf - is easy well documented, so good first one. There was a resistor value error early on but solved on the silkscreen - so non issue now - average performer, bit of a toy - great to give to children and go find me some nails! Try a simple open unsheilded coil first as can be good on this.

IDX - schematic, pcb, pcb silkscreen do have some differences - bit quirky to follow - power supplies/rails take some thought to get to grips with. Average performer, sweep low and slow.

IGSL - good write up, lots of discussion, pcb and schematic line up ok. Great idea in principle - an Fe channel and a non Fe. Can be challenging for beginner to set up successfully in use - e.g. gnd bal pots on pcb!

TGSL - seems to be the benchmark kit - two slightly different versions one by Eduardo and one other. I guess these have few issues as they have been around for ages. Cant assess performance, as I never did this one.
