Was rummaging around the net and stumbled on a metal detector systems manufacturer I'd never heard of before, CEIA. Apparently they've been around since '62, but they don't seem to be listed on a detector review site that I frequent, http://metaldetectorreviews.net/ .

Looks like they mostly build industrial systems, but here's a link to their handheld ground search units http://www.ceia.net/groundsearch/products.aspx .

Stuff looks like it's nicely built.

They have a good reputation in UXO, same as Vallon.

Most walk-through security detectors in US airports and other high security areas are made by Ceia.

CEIA uses an almost orthogonal loop system which operates very efficient because RX and TX coils are moved close to ground.
