  • tone present with Explorer

I was looking at a ml exp 2 and in coin mode it has an annoying continuous tone - is this normal or is does it need cal, or geb or what?

It may just be the threshold setting. On the right side of the LCD are 3 buttons. The bottom button lowers the threshold and the top one raises it.
If this does not work, turn off the detector and then turn it back on but hold the button down until you hear a audio jingle then the lcd will say restoring
factory settings. You can probably download a manual from their site.

If its only threshold . . Just use the pointer buttons on the right side of screen . . I use at level6. . . You have to use this md in advanced mode . . No discrim coin mmodes etc or anything else . . . . . Use edit and blank 1pixel only on the top left screen . Use small pointer to edit out the 1 pixel. . Use the sounds to discrim its deeeper . Use sounds conduct . Gain 9 . Th sound 1 . I also dont use any filters ! Max power 32 . Drop the power if it gets a bit much as it is a little lively . . And listen for that magical low sound . . ( duh )
If you select ferrous insted of conduct then youle be listening for high sounds which are harder to distinguish the rusty iron!
If using on wet sand use iron mask -12 and still listen for that duh sound

Hope some of this info maybe of use

Thats the only 2 programs you shoul ever need

Cheers, you were both right - it was my lack of familiarity with the machine - it was just Threshold

Yes not a bad machine, too heavy for me. The recovery speed of the iron mask is a bit sluggish - but it was 2" deeper than my IDX.

I only borrowed it while repairing a Sun Ray probe.

Hi . If your still using the explorer .. . Only use iron mask on beach. . . Or to get a cleaner lock on an object. . Its easy to switch between the 2 . . Use an open screen in advance mode no discrim apart from 1pixel on the top left and no iron mask . . It speeds things right up!! And to stop your arm aching try swinging it at your feet and not at arms length

Cheers for the fb - but the exp and the probe are back with the owner. Ive seen the swing at your feet thing with the AT Pro as that is about 4 pounds also, made from steel scaffold pole.

I borrowed the hip mount idea from XP. My stick is graphite golf shaft 65g and with coil grip and armrest plus cable weighs in at 720g with a 2.4m dia arc.
So if I do a full day I do a full day --- 9hours. This way I am not hospitalised the following day!
