  • Fisher 1225x help

Hi every one, I have a fisher 1225x and I am trying to replace the on-off switch and the discrimination switch. I have limited knowledge so please be kind :-) . Are they (on-off) 10k linear, and the discrimation a 100k logarithm ?
Can any body point me to a supplier, and can somebody post a picture of the inside of the board i.e. a picture of the switches on the board.
I was given this as my first detector and would love to get it working again but alas both the switches are broken beyond repair.

ID:	336294 Thanks for your help, unfortunately they have been removed from the board so I could take them to be identified with no luck.

may be so expensive for you... I am living in very tiny country in EU you will not notice it at map so do not know about suppliers in USA (
I know only you have RADIOSHACK shops net http://www.radioshack.com/home/index.jsp
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RadioShack
RadioShack Corporation (formerly Tandy Corporation) is an American franchise of electronics retail stores in the United States, as well as parts of Europe, South America and Africa. As of 2008, RadioShack reported net sales and operating revenues of $4.81 billion. The headquarters of RadioShack is located in Downtown Fort Worth, Texas.[3] RadioShack is also a sponsor for the Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. On July 21, 2009, RadioShack announced a partnership with T-Mobile USA, and started offering the service in August 2009. The T-Mobile partnership ended on September 15, 2011, when Verizon Wireless launched in over 4,000 of the retail stores nationwide. Radio Shack is now one of the top retailers in wireless offering AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
RadioShack's current proprietary brands include RadioShack branded products (parts, adapters, telephones and other legacy/classic products), AntennaCraft (outdoor antennas and amplifiers), Auvio (audio/video cables, LCD TV's, headphones, premium surge protectors and speakers), Enercell (batteries and power), Gigaware (computer, GPS and iPod accessories, mp3 players and accessories, as well as digital cameras, digital camera accessories and digital picture frames) and PointMobl (Wireless Phone Accessories).
Discontinued brands include Accurian (audio and video equipment and accessories), MyMusix (MP3 players; now marketed under the Gigaware brand), Kronus (tools), Optimus (formerly audio and PA/DJ equipment; later used for digital camera accessories), Presidian (audio and video equipment, telephones, flashlights, calculators, and 2-way radios), VoiceStar (wireless phone accessories), Archer (wiring and antennas), Duofone (telephones & accessories), Micronta (scientific and educational equipment) and Realistic (sound equipment).

you have to be spot you have a newer or older type http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potentiometer

Resistance–position relationship: "taper"The relationship between slider position and resistance, known as the "taper" or "law", is controlled by the manufacturer. In principle any relationship is possible, but for most purposes linear or logarithmic (aka "audio taper") potentiometers are sufficient.
A letter code may be used to identify which taper is used, but the letter code definitions are not standardized. Newer potentiometers will usually be marked with an 'A' for logarithmic taper or a 'B' for linear taper. Older potentiometers may be marked with an 'A' for linear taper, a 'C' for logarithmic taper or a 'F' for anti-logarithmic taper. When a percentage is referenced, with a non-linear taper, it relates to the resistance value at the midpoint of the shaft rotation. A 10% log taper would therefore measure 10% of the total resistance at the midpoint of the rotation; i.e. 10% log taper on a 10K ohm potentiometer would yield 1K at the midpoint. The higher the percentage the steeper the log curve[2]

Hi, the first link for the switch on ebay looks the same as the on/off /discrimantion switch,. I got 100k from the battery test/sensitivety switch which reads A100k and a sticker that says 320504. I'm sorry if I got it wrong because i'm not a pro like you guys !! I really appreciate your help and would love to get this working again !

I will upload a pic later minus the switches. So both switches are 10k and the ones from ebay should work?

on your photo I see the one pot is A100k (100 kiloOhm), not 10k. I can not tell it is from. I do not see it on the schematic. will wait additional pics of the board from you.

Hi its in the top right corner of the schematic, there is no point me posting a photo as the switches have been removed from the board. I really appreciate your help thanks so much.

Carl and George, please ask the topicstarter to share the photos of the PCB in English manner. mine is very poor, I can not use a vocabulary in widespread sense way as you can.

hi bleach. thank you for photos. if you can pls do another racurse angle pics at a sunny day at air open out home and send me at [email protected]
I did begin to compare your pics with to 1235 Fisher and see full similarity. may be in 1235 DISC pot is 10 turn pot, I see at schematics '10t' and at another 'M.T.' - may be multi turn, I do not know... so thought 1225 is with ordinary pot, 1235 is with 10t pot.
