Help / info needed pls . . . It maybe so easy for the gurus and techies

I bought a small battery powered fm transmitter and a very small pocket digital radio . ( from an online auction ) 5 or 6 quid for both ! . . It has about 8 meters range . . . . When i have it plugged into an mp3 or ipad/pod it works great . . . Volume / delay etc is fine. . . . But when i plug it into a detector the volume almost disapears and is extremely quiet . . .
Could anyone tell me if theres a way to adapt it for a detector . ( stereo/mono etc. Etc ) im sure you chaps would have the answers. . . This could benefit many if it is possible and easy
    Any info etc greatly appreciated
    Many thanks

To what type detector you plugged it ? On some, audio output is made to directly drive headphone only, without headphone connected you will get almost no output. Quick fix: try to connect resistor, like 1K or 470R value, not critical, what you have at hand, in parallel with detector audio out, or transmitter input, at any convenient point, inside the jack, on cable or inside transmitter and see if it works, you will get more than enough audio. Transmitter is battery powered, so separated from detector battery, otherwise you may have more problems.

Detector outputs do differ. I would suggest putting a dummy load resistor of value 20 to 50 Ohms between L and R output. Then connect transmitter ground to one end of this resistor, and the audio input(s) to the other end of the resistor. What to try next depends on the result of this experiment.
