  • Single Cup Headphone For the Tesoro Compadre: Question

I have a single cup headset for my tesoro compadre. I connected in series to the headset speaker a 1,000 ohm linear taper pot. I can only hear a tone when i turn the pot fully clockwise. No linearity. When i turn the pot counterclockwise i hear no sound. I tried a different pot of the same value & still the same results. I also tried a 2.5 & 5K pot & still the same. The detector uses a stereo jack & i'm using the appropriate cable/wiring configuration. What to do? Suggestions appreciated.

The resistance of the series pot is too high. Typically you need to put a 150R resistor in series with a set of headphones, if you're plugging them into a speaker socket. Otherwise the audio output is too loud. So, in this case, I would first try using a 100R ohm pot, preferably an audio taper type.
