Probably for beach work any PI will run decently. For the gold fields you may need ground balance, and I'm not sure of any PI projects which have GB.

Look at the SD2000 schematic posted here....It is the only PI detector posted on Geotech, capable of working on our Australian Goldfield soils.......abit it's Ground Balance.

Most Oz soils need some form of ground balance...(to eliminate our high mineralisation interference) and most important the SD2000 has proven its capabilities on Australian Goldfield's soils for years since 1995 and still is a top choice with some....and with modern electronic upgrades it is still a capable Gold Detector on our soils compared to the latest offerings.

All the rest of the PI's posted here are good enough for low to mild mineralisation....mostly suited for beach work and that includes our Australian beaches as Carl has mentioned..

A good choice to start off on our beaches is a Barracuda PI.

For High mineralisation Goldfields in Australia and general Gold Detecting....well....we are still waiting.

        Cheers Sid
