According to TEPCO regarding the second MOSFET please note the last sentence in the quote below:

"For dumping resistor, if not sure, use somewhat lower value, then increase, monitoring minimal guard time, after some point with coil ringing, ADC will measure nonsense and everything will fail miserably. Don’t use pulse generator, but chance original power stage. It is not designed for active dumping, dumping resistor does this, instead it short circuits the coil between short pulses in one timing period to prevent energy release and flyback, it will happen only at the end of cycle."

TEPCO must have studied the timings of the MOSFET gates to determine this.

I asked Andy two moths ago about Chance PCBs/kits and he answered:

"yes CHANCE all gone I may get some more pcbs as a few people have started to request them again
          regards"

But, if you insist on building it right now, I have Chance PCB (silverdogs PRO made) surplus. No kit - PCB only. Per PayPal $15 USD plus shipping (depend on your location).

Andy is back from holiday, and we were both at the WW rally near Wantage yesterday.
I sent him an email this morning about the message on the Silverdog website, and I now see that it's been removed.

OK, wait on Andy first, to see his plans with Chance, or at least preprogramed PIC for Chance. Otherwise you have here aside one piece of Chance PCB.

In meantime, this may help. Single layer PCB, 100% tested, easy to DIY made using toner transfer or photo etching. Not my design, something from, presumably Russian forum, I just entered it into CAD. Only two jumpers and A to A' connection for 220uH inductor (or just short it). Just in case, check if everything is printable, this is improvised post from netbook, not having all software needed to make pro files. PCB is in old Protel format.

Somewhere in backup I have all this, also waveform measurements, explanations etc, long time ago posted on some foreign forum, will re-post here, if I ever manage to find files. Few detectors made using this PCB, it is different from Silverdog version, in turn different from original, using ground plane on top layer, never compared all them, but no obvious layout issues with this, (not errors, layout can be critical for circuit operation), works just fine. This is originally for older software version, later author introduced some small changes, newer version SW will work on this one too, can be easily modified, I never actually compared effect of small hardware changes to performance. I don't have working detector anymore, it was long time ago, so don’t ask...

Soon I will be able to participate more regularly here, also there are few unanswered PM's and few topics missed, sorry, but for now signing off...

Dave, why you do not wish to look into QED side? QED seems more progressive and you can get suggestions in english. nobody from russians here will give you info if you meet problem in Chance-PI.
if you would like to order DVD email me on address [email protected]

                              regards

I Googled 'QED' and came up with things like this:

                                arizonaoutback.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=10930

The QED detector has been rumored to be released since 2008 and I can't find anything about it. Where do you get the kits or PC boards? Is it real?
