  • Fisher Gold Bug to repair

I have a Fisher Gold Bug to try and fix. Anyone take one of these apart before and have a dis-assembly procedure?
Unit turns on but no signal with a target. Tried another coil but still nothing. Could be solder joints...Have to open it up first.

Never mind. Remove the coil connector nut and the assembly slides out.
Will continue to report if I find the problem.
Anyone know common failures on these?

Well the coil connector on the board is pretty worn. Cleaned and squeezed the contacts a bit and now the unit seems functional but with very minimal sensitivity.
A screwdriver doesn't set it off until it's two inches from the coil! Anyone see this before?

Did you ever get it repaired? Which gold bug do you have?
