ok guys heres a simple 555 basic circuit no descrim ground balance and prob not even very deep I wanted to simulate the presence of metal on the simulator so i used a second inductor (l2) via a simple switch when I flick it the spikes appear on the oscilloscope is this akin to the presence of metal or is it changing the L1 inductor value or both even thanks in advance

ps I know this is a piece of ahh I mean easy for u guy but it feels like an achievement for me thanks guys

Using this switch in parallel of both coil you change both inductor value to zero and suppress oscillations.

Try with inductor in serial instead of parallel and switch one of both On/Off - or use changeable inductor or solenoid model you have in CW instead of fixed value inductor.

But visible changes in simulation does not mean that this will work in praxis as usable detector too.

I accidentally found over Internet that 555 metal detector you are trying to build. I see 47K instead of 470K resistor in it. I am not sure if both diagrams are correct or working. Click image for larger version

Also probably you will have a fun to build simple 555 magnetometer next to your metal detector: Click image for larger version
