  • No more Geotech in Google search results.

Trying to find on Google information I usually need I have found that I can see any website except Geotech.

!!! No more Geotech in Google search results !!!

Try to search Google for example for: TESORO GOLDEN SABRE Schematic

    you will see pages from: thunting.com hobbielektronika.hu findmall.com silverdog.co.uk md4u.ru ebay.ca treasurenet.com

    Surf PI Schematic

    silverdog.co.uk hobby-hour.com treasurelinx.com , ....

Without Google search results this forum losing attention from new potential members. It is just "black hole" for them.
They will not came here caring for new ideas, schematics, information, experience.

Tons of useful information buried deep on old Geotech pages and practically removed from Internet because this information is invisible for Google users.
Also internal forum search is useless because it provides raw list of all results without that smart algorithms of relevance and ranking Google has as well as spelling, synonyms , image search, e.t.c.

"Today Google’s algorithms rely on more than 200 unique signals or “clues” that make it possible to guess what you might really be looking for."
    https://www.google.com/insidesearch/...lgorithms.html

Any webmaster cares to be on Google and to achieve good rank in Google search results.

If anyone wants to delete content of his website from Google it looks like Internet suicide.

I am feeling so sad about that fact because I have found Geotech using Google several years ago
and most interesting information about metal detectors design was on Geotech and it was on the top of Google search results.

I just did a Google search using "Metal Detector circuit diagrams and Geotech came up near the top of the third page. I also tried "TESORO GOLDEN SABRE Schematic" and Geotech came up on page 5. Last month when I joined here, the site was found while Googling MD schematics.

So why for request "TESORO GOLDEN SABRE Schematic" you have received page: [FREE GeoPhysical Imaging Software!!! - Geotech] from section [- Technology - Geophysics] ?????????

Just because Google prohibited to access to most of content of Geotech website.
You can see that main part of website turned to "private" several month ago.

More evidence: search on Google: site:www.geotech1.com/forums/ surf pi

You will see 7 results. I can't believe that Surf PI mentioned seven times on all Geotech forums. It is just remains from results Google did not deleted yet or some side pages not restricted for Google.

This must be another area Google hasn't caught up in.

Did you tried to open pages you have found. They are just few pages from website not from forums.
Only schematic you can see on that page is: "White's Goldmaster 66"

Thousands pages from Geotech forums with most interesting content are blocked for Google bot and as result from indexing by Google because they are private now.

How private forum looks for Google bot:
Click Log Off and navigate to Tech Forum

Forum: Tech Forum - There have been no posts in the last 365 days in this forum.

So no doubts. Nothing can be found on Google from "Tech Forum" and most other forums.

Interesting. Do you think this may be due to the forum admin (Carl?) having it setup this way do to spammers, bots, spiders, trolls, etc.? I know he's got things pretty tight as it wasn't that easy for me to register.

Yep, I have observed the same thing a few days ago.

This is a good news for patent-trolls!

To overcome this, just save the web page and all the relevant pics into your hard disk.
Or post on the other forums as well.

                Aziz
                patent-troll eater... *LOL*

Yes, I remember that crazy Pakistani hackers damaged website. I can't tell when forums turns to private, may be after hackers attack or may be when forum changed its look (it was blue before).

But anyway breakout with Google is bad for people who interesting in MD technologies and searching Internet. It makes much harder to find what we need and valuable information has almost lost.

For example: 6666 asked me for more info about Infinum coil yesterday. I have spent an hour trying to find that page with photos and schematics over Internet because I remember that it was easily found on Google before.
No Google, no forums have showed it for me again. Finally I have found a saved page on disk on my computer and it was a blue page from Geotech I have found years ago on Google and saved.
So it appears that same information is very hard to find now because if it is absent on Google so practically it is out from Internet.

I hope to see Geotech forums return back into Google index.

waikiki, is right, this forum appears dead to non members now,and that is a direct consequence of being private, since all non members are potential new members, for any website that is bad.
however since it went private, it is "better" on here in terms of spam posts, trolling, etc, and most of the ridiculous posts from non techy detectorists have dissapeared, so its somewhat of a balancing act.
but attitudes to this place have changed on other sites aswell, for instance thunting now makes indirect snipey comments, "we only recomended them as we used to host them", "nothing new and interesting has been posted on geotech for years" etc, etc.

thats probably due to thunting being a "ghost forum" since geotech left, indeed the amount of new posts there is testament to this.

the main problem for us is the lack of "new" projects, only george has posted anything "new" ie the mini pulse, the last one that the whole forum got behind was the barracuda in 2011.
ok now i sound like a whinger, which i'm not far from it, but the "bugwhiskers fiasco" has largely killed brand new ideas, all we see is talk, and abstract diagrams of chunks of circuits, that most of the time are meaningless.

and then reverse engineering, apart from george's minipulse name one real new project since the cuda, you cant it does not exsist, i'm not counting pic based stuff as thats still minority stuff, what i'm talking about is an analogue complete working detector we can all have a go at.

people are still working on stuff just not here and thats sad, hell users wont even post infomation they have for stuff thats 30 years old, and since the search does not even find threads that you need and more to the point know exsist it all seems a bit lame.
for the record the stock answer of "buy ITMD" that gets said to every technical question is really getting on my tits.

I did a search yesterday and wondered why I could not find something I new was on the forum.

I am sad that this had to happen. I had more success with a Google search say "site:geotech1.com baracuda 7660" than I would with the inbuilt site search. have to have another look at the advance search options.

Amen to that! Is it not why we have this fantastic forum, for people to come along, search the archives then when they can't find the answer, ask the forum members for advice? Then the answer should be advice, not necessary "buy some book" which I for one, if I did buy it, would probably not end up reading it anyway! I added another book to my collection of books I don't read today!!!

My philosophy to selling things is not to jam it down ones neck, instead let them become curious and they will check it out for themselves. Bit like when I go into a shop to "look around". If a salesman comes over and starts to hassle me I will buy nothing(unless I came in specifically for something), if I'm left to my own devices, I will buy half the shop!

                        Cheers Mick

@ mechanic, i agree mate i got the book for xmas(from santa apparently), and its fantastic, but for non techie types its too techie.
which is a shame as carl and george obviously spent a lot of time on it making it accessible for all.

If you want to search the forums, the best way is to use Advanced Search, and then select Search Single Content Type.

I tried searching for a few of the more popular Geotech projects with every search engine I have, including DuckDuckGo and get very similar results. Odd.

Makes me wonder what's the point of having so many search engines if they are all merely
different flavors of the same stuff?
