No more Geotech in Google search results.

I tried searching for a few of the more popular Geotech projects with every search engine I have, including DuckDuckGo and get very similar results. Odd.

Makes me wonder what's the point of having so many search engines if they are all merely
different flavors of the same stuff?

Yahoo buying Google search results from Google.
DuckDuckGo buying Google search results from Yahoo.
And so on...
Conclusion: Be on Google or go to oblivion.

Shrinking website traffic and number of new visitors by restricting access for search engines is bad for selling books too.

One thing I have noticed while lurking around some of the other MD websites is there is talk like "go check on Geotech1.com if you need the answer". As if this is the source for the best and most complete technical information. I've seen this a couple different times on different sites.

It was for many years. But clock is ticking. Check that traffic ranks after 1-2 years. I worried that at some point of time there will be one post a week because old members getting tired and quit and new members can't find the place.

need lessons in using the advance search for individual posts

If I search for whites connector in the advanced search, have all the forums highlighted and the child forums ticked it comes back with not results

If I do a search for whites connector in the main search box then half way down the tread containing the connector type is there

Geotech forum has a great value not only for members and public but also owner has to be sure that its value hundreds thousand dollars (until it has not only information but traffic and members).

I am sure admins tired to moderate it for free and happy to see less visitors including that crazy spammers.

But why not to let website to pay for itself?

You can open Google Adsense account and get paid for that moderation work and even make profit allowing that website to live and grow.

You can see Adsense ads on many websites including MD4U.RU
And I can confirm that Adsense really pays. I am not expecting you will ever believe but you can see

1. First, I am NOT advertising anything here. Google do not need my advertising.

2. Second, I am so sorry, I have checked all sections of forum and did not find any place where to bring attention on that fact of slowing down here and why it happens.
("Can't Register or Log In?" is read only section and there are no more forums about forum itself.)

3. Third, Only what I want - I hope visitors will return to Geotech and we will see more posts and discussions as well as new interesting ideas and information.
Sure I can stay quiet or even stop visiting that place but I don't think it will make that forum more alive.

I think, members who can understand the problem have to write a petition to administration to let that forum to be indexed by Google.

nOOO ! You got my post wrong ! Im saying that that picture you posted is going to get you a lot of attention. I would be very interested in any thread in off topic section where you describe how you achieved so much love from google accountants writing you such large cheques.

After adding adsense ads and having 50,000 visitors daily I got $800 per day from Adsense. Couple years ago I sold or closed all websites because as result of activity of hundreds competitors and recession traffic and earnings went down. At least I got my ticket to Hawaii.

Google is no more or less evil than any other profits making company - which is the reason for a business.

The hosts file of course is a very good idea to block all kind of ads-, spam-, commercial banners- and spy-sites.


But now to the main topic:

The internet should remain somehow free and not full of private forums and other restrictions.
Its also not fair to those who freely provide information which should be accessable to everyone and not just for people who first have to pass all kind
of register and other uncomfortable procedures!
If I see forums in the internet who think they can play "celebrity disco-club" I ignore them right away, they can keep their stuff.

If google has a much better search for technical content regarding MD-technology as this forum has it is a huge step backwards to destroy this chance.

Of course the Inside The Metal Detector section of this forum is not private so everyone can find it by google.
But many people will not became interested in it at all if they search at google for special MD stuff and won't find this forum!
They never will see the forum-overview with its ITMD announcment so its totally contra-productive on this level, too.

Next I found the old style much better where the attached pix opended without mouseclick first.
Is this now the "text only because better for smartphones"-version?


Probably now over 50% of all in metal-detection technology interested will avoid this forum !!!

Because they are not interested for stupid and silly registering work first! They wanna have fun on the internet and not all kind of restrictions.
Usually internet-surfing and reading stuff should be free and not limited to all kind of uncomfortable registering and e-mail accounts and
whatever they need. Nowadays you even can't register a free yahoo-mail if you don't give them your personal cell-phone number!
But this is absolutly non of their business, those greedy data-collectors and re-salers.

And I'm shure alot creative potential for this forum gets lost because of those new "barricades" that have created here.

btw. seems many older posts have been deleted here, posts before 2010. Was this so much GB of too much data?

And last but not least:
If a forum should be REALLY set to private it is the Long Range Locator forum with all those lunatics who think they can spread their crazy illusions there!
