  • Surf Pi Construction video released

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the recent help with the construction of my Surf Pi.

As promised I have featured a segment on my construction on the vidcast I help make - Amateurlogic in episode 65 just released today.

Here's the link and my segment starts at about the 40 minute mark.

Well done, I enjoyed your project, I'm a nut about watching stuff like this. I watch all of the EEVblog videos. This will be an aid for a first detector builder.

What size Rod did you use for the pointer.

have you had your pinpointer switch hooked up to a scope?, i have done experiments with this, and at usefull delay times simple switches are not sufficient.
in the barracuda a switch like that at standard delay apprears to work well, until you scope it, then you see why its not a trivial matter.
it really needs both connections on both coils isolating and switching independently, at least a pi does imho.

My pvc pipe has "dn 15 pvc-u pressure pipe" written on it.

I haven't hooked it up to a scope but my switch switches both leads from one coil over to the other. It just works.

          cheers Peter

Not sure. Its about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Its a pretty standard size.

              cheers Peter
