    Hi folks,

Saw this, and it brings up some interesting possibilities.

    http://bitscope.com/blog/201404/?p=ED10A

It looks to be a nice inexpensive little scope add-on for a Raspberry Pi.

Thats all nice and good, but it also got me thinking in terms of metal detector hardware.

Looking at the API thats released for it, it looks like the API supports multiple scopes on one Pi. With Dual channels, and an arbitrary waveform generator, along with logic analyzer capability, this could potentially form core of an interface for an interesting metal detector circuit. Does this seem possible? Take one or more of these, and I'd think you could build some really nice, high-end detector equipment I'd imagine. In quantity they could sell for $95 (10 or more), so we could potentially pool resources and get these cheaper than the $145.

Anyone interest in building an MD based on this?

Just thought you folks would like to know.

Nicely featured package, actually not inexpensive. Main limiting factor in similar products is typically only 8bit ADC resolution on scope inputs, not enough for most MD applications.

Looks like they say it's 12bit, but I'm not sure with the wording..

This has allowed us to make this model as small as possible while retaining most of the features of the Smart POD models. It also inherits some neat BS10 features like variable switching levels for logic channels D6 and D7, impedance sensing, multiple input ranges and macro resolution analog inputs (up to 12 bits below 1 MHz).
They also mention folks embedded this in actual devices such as a flying quadcopter, which is what started me thinking about embedding it in a MD...

I looked just briefly to this, no detailed specification offered on front page. 12Bit at 1MHz (or 1MSPS?) is reasonable. Only price issue remain, 1MSPS at 12bit is within range of 4$ chip.
