Got an Explorer II that suddenly now powers on by itself. Tested different batteries...still the same issue. Once you plug the battery in, it powers up, after the splash screen, you see "reset required" then it throws a blank screen, if you try to hit the power button then a screen comes up and says "battery flat - unable to perform this operation" or something like that. So you have to pull the battery now. Tried holding the power button while plugging the battery in - nothing. Checked for anything shorting the board...nothing. I suspect something happened to the power PCB but cant be sure. I cannot use the machine so has anyone seen this issue and know if there is a fix??? Thanks.

Old thread but wanted to update for search results in case others have this problem.
Having the exact same issue on an SE. C605 electrolytic is reportedly of poor quality and causes problems when it fails. The electrolytics look ok on my power board but replacing C605 anyway with a Panasonic part when it comes in. 2200uF 16V 105deg.
Since I have a basic ESR meter, will try comparing the old to new part as well.
