  • TGSL OR IDX PRO

you could tell me the differences between IDX PRO and TGSL, I am undecided on which to build.
    what is the best?
what is the easiest to calibrate?
I saw that there is a very detailed guide for the construction of TGSL, there is something similar for the IDX PRO? (excluding the giant discussion http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...hlight=idx+pro)
    THANK YOU

Both are excellent projects. Coil building can be difficult but suggest you buy a coil if this is your first project.
TGSL is a bit easier though but is lacking the pinpoint channel. I think the IDX goes a little deeper but the TGSL has better discrimination.
you pick! Just make sure you read through the threads before beginning.
    Good luck!
    Don.

      thanks

about the TGSL I found a detailed guide that explains everything (from the board to the coil) but of 'IDX PRO I have found only one file which explains how to make the coil, while about the operation, the settings, I have not found anything besides many info scattered in the immense discussion.
there is some "summary" concerning the IDX PRO?

PS I'm going to build the IDX PRO, I've already built the Surfmaster Pi

Pretty sure there is no file with all the information. It's contained in the large thread. Don who answered earlier in this thread has done some coil information in the coil forum.

If you use the board from Silverdog it's pretty much carefully fill in the values on the board. The project is very well developed and you will build an excellent detector without any modifications.

You need a scope really to help make it.

The IDX Disc is kind of preset, i.e. the disc gate does'nt move around - you have a built samplie time location on disc ch, the pot straddling the geb to disc ch outputs selects a ratio of disc to geb being fed thru on the disc threshold detector. If your build has come out sampling the Disc CH a little late, yes you REALLY get rid of iron - but your sens to good stuff takes a hit - and you can adjust it back - from the front panel!

The TGSL actually gives front panel time slide of the Disc gate so the phase notch of target phases has some range/span unlike the IDX S

It can resolve phase and frequency ok.

You need to make an attentuator to scale the 15Vpp Tx to smaller level - - so no damage caused.

[QUOTE = giuseppem94; 190980].
