Had a super experience tonight,
got opportunity to detect an exposed section of roman road in south uk.
A beautifully preserved section of Ermine street, 9m wide and about 4 1/2 feet below modern ground.
Whats more I got a really clear tone that sounded like a coin. buried in the road surface!
It was not with intention of detroying the raod surface to retreive,, merely to record a coin or brooch in the fabric of the intact road.
The road has evidence of 5 layers of re surfacing through the occupation.
I feel so pleased I had this opprtunity. My unique evening.
I got a video - but its 350MBytes, so cant really post it easilt.
