Silver, do not start many projects at once. I mean Tiny and Pickini.

        thanks a lot Toros
do you know if i can use other PIC in this project? 12f1840 is not accessible at my country!

You can use ver1 with PIC 16F616 or ver2 with PIC 16F1824. In ver 2 there is no quartz and capacitors on pin 2-3 microprocessor.

            hi all,
i come back after a too long pause.
i ve build the pickini v3 ,and it don t works!
i got the starup first sound, the alternate little sound and the coil error sound!!(made a 330µH coil ,20cm)
i can t set too the 5.2v in pin 3 !!!(turnig right to left nothing change)
what are the value on the BS170? (perhaps faulty??)
(i can make photos if necessary)
            Any ideas? thanks

              hello nick

please post the board layout you have used
remind that you have spotted two errors in the layout you send me a while ago
i have the version 3, and it works

working on an underwater Version on the Moment
similar to ApBerg´s Project from Tracker Pi

I've used mine out in the woods a few times and get a good 15 to 16 cm to a buried £ coin, which is good enough for me. I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit and I will go down to a beach to try my luck. I only have it mounted on a cheap wood frame with the coil encase in silicone and tape for now. Works well.

                    • whats the best way to drive a little vibrating Motor with the pic 12f1840?

max output is 5V 20mA, so is the solution to use a 2n2222 at the output of the µController?

                      • You can use any small signal BJT with a series 250 ohm resistor going to its gate or directly to any nType MOSFET like the 2n7000.
The motor is connected between +VE supply and the transistor collector (if BJT) or drain (if MOSFET).
Emitter or Source go to ground.

                        • hi F117, thanks for sharing ur project, i had tried to build the circuit, however, i can only able to get initial sound, but after that, the respond only in coil error sound.. tried to use the coil built for the previous version by another friend, but still it doesn't work, any idea what's the problem is? Thanks in advance =)

When you get the coil error sound, this means that there is no flyback pulse detected. Either there is no coil current - check the connections and pulse to the gate of the MOSFET, or the coil itself is not good (short circuit, not connected, .. ). Check and clean the board solderings around the pulse coming from the microcontroller to the BS170 to the gate of MOSFET carefully. Measure your coil with an ohm meter. It should not be zero ohms, but a little higher. If you have an oscilloscope, check the pulse going to the MOSFET gate.

                            • apparently I connected MOSFET's D and S leg inversely.. ><
however, still the same problem after i made it right..
another thing is pin 3 of PIC is just fixed at 5 V, any adjustment to R23 jst doesn't make any changes, would it be the root of the problem?

                              • Does the voltage at pin 6 of the opamp change when you adjust R23 ?
Do you have VCC/2 at pin 1 of the opamp ?
Does the output of the opamp - pin 7 - change in DC when adjusting R23 ?

                                Check these first.
                                Success!
