  • Pinpointer with ID?

Would it be feasible to make a pinpointer with discrimination/ID?
When I take my XLT to grass parks it finds targets in the first few feet. Maybe it is just my beginner level of experience with this detector but it drives me nuts to dig pennies or pulltabs 80% of the time. After finding a target I take my minelab pinpointer and localize the target. Problem is that it can then still be 3" or more deep. Would it be feasible to make a pinpointer that has id function so i wouldn't dig the lesser value targets?

Hello. Bernte's is much more sensitive than mine. I noticed he wound coil on ferrite while I remember that, when I tried it, it gave falses if moved in air. I supposed it detected earth magnetic field, so I wound the same inductance on a plastic support and I got rid of that problem...

I had liked also a continuos tone instead of bip- bip. I wrote to eddy to ask if it was possible to consider a fw version with that option but got no answer.

The idea is your XLT tells you what's down there before you even get the pinpointer out
so the PP only needs to help you find that nugget. Most PP's are some kind of all metal
or PI type detector. It would be tricky making a VLF coil small enough to pinpoint with
and still discriminate. The Mini above is as close as you can get...

Yes, the White's TRX pinpointer was designed to add target ID. It has space for a wireless module and the intent was to wirelessly connect to the detector and show live results to the screen and live audio to wireless headphones. However, I doubt it will ever happen.

Is that because the White's Next-Level Extreme Detectobot is about to be announced?
I hear it detects the coins, digs and extracts them, and can do a field in one set of batteries...

Here is my version of Malysh FM2, by eddy71.
It is also a small digging tool, as you can see.
Perhaps an idea for a new patent
From time to time, you have to push the calibrate button,
but it do not disturb me...
