  • Detectors - Old vs New

    Hi guys,

I am in dilemma to buy a brand new (digital) one or buy (proven) old one.

Something like Minelab X-terra 70 or 705 and
Whites 6000 di pro sl xb
Tried to find something affordable and with manual GB.

Or to build TGSL or IDX (with whites 950 coil).

My projects are going to that goal but I don't want to build every detector from 0.

Do you have factory made detector as your first detector and your home build as your backup ?

Well I tried to build a good working detector but ended up buying a factory made one.
#1 you can use it while you experiment on your homebuilt.
#2 you have a good working coil or detector to test your home made ones.

I bought a Tesoro Bandito because of the price. If I could swing a Minelab I'd
go for one of those (pun intended!).

I noticed that there is lot's of customers for 6000 DI pro so price is going up.
400 $ for 20 years old detector - capacitors are like new
6000 di pro has coil whics matches IDX ... blue max 950

Also postage from US is killing (me) ... about 90$

On other hand someone who is selling from UK is selling in pounds - so there is another hurdle.
      x-terra is over 400 $
