I bought an older Radio Shack metal detector at a yard sale for $5!
It didn't work but I figures oh well I can use the coil. Wrong! It had some funky
inductance values. So I decided to open it up and modify it to work with my
TGSL SMT board. So that means winding some new coils.
It looks like this;

The coil looks like this;

I pried it open and found this;

I wound up a 6.2mh 6" coil for it and varnished it
(the first one I saturated with super glue and it shorted out to 3mh)!

I attached a drain wire then painted the inside of the shells with graphite
for shielding;

Painted the Graphite;

And wound a RX and Bucking coil on a bobbin made from 2 discarded fruit cups! (RX 6.5mh buck 0.12mh);

So I just need to null it and put the TGSL board in the case and Voila!
