It's hard to get the shaft for less than $40. Kellyco has the MP shaft parts

White's sells a complete 3-piece S-rod kit including arm cup for around $40.

Yeah, it's actually quite a bargain for a DIY project.

I like that it breaks into 3 pieces. My purchased detector has a 2 piece shaft and it barely fits in my car!
