  • 3x 18650 battery charger

I use three 18650 in series to power Surf PI. The batteries work great. The only problem is that I have to disassemble the enclosure every time I need to take out the batteries for charging. I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to plug some power supply to the controller box and charge the batteries without taking them out. Maybe someone solved this already? Did you guys came across any info how to do this?
I don't know much about 18650, but I think they have to be charged and monitored individually when charging. Not sure.

    Thanks

Hi Daren. I took several of those cells from an old laptop battery pack, and I'm planning to build this charger.

If we assume the not from you written information is correct you have already a charger and you are using li-ion or lipo accus.

So wire them "balance chargable" with 4 connectors as show on the above picture
              http://www.geotech1.com/forums/attac...6&d=1414070887
or wire them with just plus and minus if the charger also offers just the 3 in series option and plus and minus only.

You can use an additional coil jack and plug for this, too.

Or you built into the housing a seperate charging-circuit inkl. the needed power source plug for it at the housing.

btw. this is nothing new, the Blisstool has the same 3x li-ion accus inbuilt configuration, with outside charger
and I have modified it so even an external accupack is possible now to work with it.
In this case you have to add a switch so the internal accus are complete offline if the external is attached.
