  • looking to build a detector

Hello all this is my first post so ill start by saying Hello!
now to jump right in I am looking to build a Detector to do some prospecting. i am aware different systems are needed depending on where i am hunting so i would be willing to build several different systems based on the location i am working .
are there pre made kits for building any of these Detectors?

Well Silverdog has some kits here; http://www.silverdog.co.uk/shop/inde...tegory&path=36

And there are a few on Ebay.

Well the minipulse is a new PI detector. PI's are a bit easier to get going
and minipulse has some very good instructions.

        Here's the minipulse forum, all instructions can be downloaded there;
        http://www.geotech1.com/forums/forum...Minipulse-Plus

PI's are generally for the beach as they go deep and do not discriminate.

Note the kits do not come with documentation. The documentation is here
on Geotech. They are a service for our users to make it easy to build something...

Also you may need an oscilloscope to do the setup though it is written to use
        just a meter.

for first experiment winterproject Delta Pulse (Sniffer XR-71) is best. simple schematic, great depth, well documented, on-line help,
as via skype so via forum. you get PI learning, pulse induction schematic, how it is working, principle of pulse induction. Delta Pulse is
good learning platform for everybody. as home maker dummy so the guru with PHD in electronics. DP schematic is on level of majority
          of Eric Foster schematics.

If your serious about detecting and want to get going fast, and want results now - Id say buy a machine, maybe a used one.

If you want to have a project that may sprawl for days weeks months with lots of coil building and trial and error and learning, kits are for you.

Hi, for those of you who've built kits, do you know if I can use an 1/8" phone jack and socket as a 12v power lead coupler? At the moment I have a 9v style clip on n it's a bit if a pain clipping on and off? I have a spare jack and socket, if it's a no go and will have to buy a DC connector. Thanks for any input

Also (on topic) I've just built a silverdog surf pi 1.2, easy build worked first time n I've not done electronics for 12ish yrs, so as proven perfect for a beginner.

Delta Pulse's https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...metal+detector gives me 1,950 results. this is the absolute record.

Hi Al 2014; phone plugs and jacks are prone to shorting as you slide the plug in and out. The leads tend to break or short unless large size wires are used. I use a 9v holder that works quite well. The battery snaps in and out with ease. There are a number of styles on eBay.

I just reread and realized that you need a 12v connector so the 9v holder won't work.

bad for use like a ps connector. I did see the sound jack used, but that was 6mm. I did see it in Deepers 10DD. better use 'microphone connector'
them are much at ebay for good price.Click image for larger version
